Gurudwara Nada Sahib is a historical gurudwara located near Chandigarh. It is situated in Panchkula district of Haryana, at a distance of few kilometers from Chandigarh.
History of Gurudwara Nada Sahib
Dhan Dhan Shiri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj after the glorious victory of Bhangani war against the Raja’s of Baaidharr, went from Bhangani to Paounta Sahib.While going from Paounta Sahib to Shiri Anandpur Sahib, on the way he went to Nahan, Toka Sahib, Rani Da Raipur and finally after Manak Tabra in 1687, he visited the land of Nada Sahib. At this time, guru ji was accompanied by his followers, warriors and horse riders. Here guru ji ordered his army to halt and rest for a while.
In those days, the place was a mere wild forest. Guru Gobind Singh Ji stayed in a camp near the Ghaggar river on a high mount. Some families of Lubana cast were already living at that place. Bhai Nadu Shah and many other followers welcomed Guru Gobind Singh Ji and his army. The devotees were already waiting to have glimpse of the victorious warrior who won the battle of Bhangani and defeated the kings of Baaidharr. Throughout their stay, Bahi Nadu Shah whole heartedly served guru ji and his army with zeal. Guru ji was pleased with the service rendered by Bhai Nadu Shah and before leaving the place, Guru ji asked about Bhai Nadu Shah’s occupation. In reply Bhai Nadu Shah said that he is a petty farmer and poor follower of you. Guru ji blessed Bhai Nadu Shah and said that due to his services, the place would be known by the name of Nada Sahib and his name will be remembered forever, and the wishes of every devotee who visits this place will be fulfilled and come true.
Gurudwara Sahib Patshahi Dasveen Nada Sahib is famous throughout the world. The gurudwara is managed and maintained by Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Commitee Sri Amritsar with the support of devotees. Lacs of devotees visit the gurudwara on Sunday and on fullmoon day (poornmashi).
